Ah make me a believer
Ah make me un-believe her
Ours is a fruitless labor
Base and benign
Laid to the waste endeavors
Red on the rind
Out in this listless pasture
Seeds in the sun
dream of a forest fire
We will become
Ah make me a believer
Ah make me un-believe her
On to the yawning chasm
Bleached by the dark
When obsolescence has them
visions depart
Yours an unwieldy welcome
prickled and obtuse
Too wary to wear it out
to smooth it with use
Ah make me a believer
Ah make me un-believe her
Julien Baker is an acquired taste - assuming of course you’ve acquired great taste in singer songwriters… beautiful, devastating, honest, insightful… I’ve not heard a single song of hers that hasn’t left me in absolute awe. crisbroadhurst
I am pretty sure I love this album because of lines like this:
"Time cast a spell on you and you will forget me
I know I could have loved you, but you would not let me
I will follow you down ’til the sound of my voice still haunts you
You’ll never get away from the sound of the woman that loved you" . Somehow they hit really hard, even though the instrumentation is coercing you to sway back and forth in a positive form. quiet_calm_deceased
