As cold as you'd like
wary of an estuary where in
rivers like I might slide away
and mingle with seas
indistinguishably
swallowed by the ocean
over and over and over again
Who am I to ask the question?
Who am I at all?
Devil was there
hanging on the pinnacle
Earth pulls you in
and then you become the earth again
Or the angles scoop you up
Lest you dash your foot upon on the rock
Like you never mow the lawn
so your landlord does
It’s funny how things like that have ways of taking care of themselves
Who am I to ask the question?
Who am I at all?
Julien Baker is an acquired taste - assuming of course you’ve acquired great taste in singer songwriters… beautiful, devastating, honest, insightful… I’ve not heard a single song of hers that hasn’t left me in absolute awe. crisbroadhurst
I am pretty sure I love this album because of lines like this:
"Time cast a spell on you and you will forget me
I know I could have loved you, but you would not let me
I will follow you down ’til the sound of my voice still haunts you
You’ll never get away from the sound of the woman that loved you" . Somehow they hit really hard, even though the instrumentation is coercing you to sway back and forth in a positive form. quiet_calm_deceased
